Foundation Suspends Scholarship for Nigerians Amid Fraud Allegation
A United Kingdom-based organization, has decided to suspend scholarships awarded to Nigerian beneficiaries following allegations of fraudulent activities carried out by some of the recipients. The Foundation emphasized its commitment to upholding legal and regulatory obligations, particularly in Lagos State where the charity operates. Jacobs highlighted the importance of abiding by the Rule of Law and expressed confidence in the state's impartiality in addressing the matter.
The Wuraolami Foundation, a United Kingdom-based organization, has decided to suspend scholarships awarded to Nigerian beneficiaries following allegations of fraudulent activities carried out by some of the recipients.
The decision was announced by Ms. Ifeoyinla Jacobs, the Foundation Director, who expressed concern over an alarming level of fraud perpetrated by some recipients of the scholarship scheme.

In a statement released today, Jacobs highlighted the gravity of the situation: “Despite confirmation from both the state and the Nigerian arm that substantial payments have been made to the charity, our beneficiaries in Nigeria have not received their scholarship funds. This has forced us to explore legal avenues to address the issue.”
Jacobs elaborated on the steps the organization is taking in response to the situation. She mentioned, "We have filed a formal petition to the Nigeria Police Force to address the issue through legal channels. We believe that a thorough investigation is necessary to bring an end to the injustice and ensure equal access to justice within our society."

The Foundation emphasized its commitment to upholding legal and regulatory obligations, particularly in Lagos State where the charity operates. Jacobs highlighted the importance of abiding by the Rule of Law and expressed confidence in the state's impartiality in addressing the matter.
Furthermore, the Foundation clarified that it has been providing assistance free of charge to various vulnerable groups since its establishment in 2014. Beneficiaries have included the poor, needy, elderly, disabled, orphans, and students, among others. The Foundation assured that all recipients who met the organization's criteria received their scholarship funds, which were sent directly to their educational institutions.
