FULOKOJA Hosts the 37th SONTA Conference, Celebrates Salifu's Achievement

Peter Ogohi Salifu, an alumnus and staff member of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), has been awarded the prestigious SONTA-Olu Obafemi Prize for Playwriting for 2024. The award, presented at the 37th International Conference of the Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists (SONTA), recognizes outstanding achievements in the field of playwriting.

The SONTA Conference, held at Federal University Lokoja, highlighted Salifu’s play, *Sons of an Ancestor*, which was chosen from nine exceptional entries. Professor Gowon Doki, President of SONTA, announced Salifu's win, praising the play's creativity and depth.

In his acceptance speech, Salifu expressed profound gratitude to PAAU, acknowledging the support he received throughout his academic and creative endeavors. He emphasized the solid foundation provided by the University’s Theatre Arts Department, which he credited for his growth as a playwright.
