FUNAAB Hosts Teach for Nigeria Fellows, Strengthens Partnership Against Education Inequity
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has hosted over 700 Teach for Nigeria (TfN) Fellows as part of a partnership aimed at tackling education inequity in the country.
The partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in March 2025, leverages FUNAAB's facilities, human resources, and technical support to enhance TfN's high-impact training initiatives.
The Pre-Service Training Institute (PSTI) is a six-week program designed to equip Fellows with essential skills in pedagogy, literacy, numeracy, and leadership. The program features a combination of virtual and in-person training, with FUNAAB hosting the final three weeks.
The University spared no effort in preparing for the Fellows' arrival, including upgrading hostel facilities, improving water supply, enhancing health and security systems, and boosting internet connectivity. The crèche was also upgraded to international standards to accommodate Fellows with young children.
The partnership has not only enhanced the training of TfN Fellows but also positioned FUNAAB as a hub for impactful collaborations. Many Fellows have expressed interest in pursuing higher studies at FUNAAB, with some indicating plans to return for postgraduate programs. The partnership demonstrates FUNAAB's commitment to supporting initiatives that promote education and innovation.
