The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta International School (FUNIS) successfully concluded its annual 3-Day Staff Retreat on September 13, 2024, aimed at equipping staff with the necessary tools and insights for the upcoming academic session. Held under the theme "Switch on to the Change," the retreat focused on promoting transformative education and addressing contemporary academic challenges.

In his closing remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Chairman of FUNAAB Schools’ Management Board, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, commended the new school management team and urged the staff to foster collaboration, unity, and dedication to academic excellence.

The Ag. Registrar, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu, represented by Mrs. Wuraola Badmus, encouraged staff to embrace continuous learning and incorporate the retreat’s lessons into their daily routines. She also emphasized the importance of career development initiatives.

Keynote Speaker, Prof. Jonathan Atungwu, the immediate past Dean of the College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT), praised the school’s leadership for organizing the retreat and urged staff to embrace change for both personal and professional growth.

The retreat also featured sessions on workplace ethics, attitudinal change, and retirement planning, with lectures delivered by Dr. Abdussobur Salaam, Mr. Adebayo Ogundimu, and Mr. Aderemi Adebayo. Additionally, discussions on diversity, inclusion, and quality assurance in secondary education were led by Prof. Adeboye Fafiolu and Dr. Temitayo Akinyele.

Principal of FUNIS, Mr. Olusola Ilori, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, and the University Management for their support, highlighting the need for innovative teaching strategies and staff collaboration to enhance the educational experience.

The retreat underscored the school’s commitment to addressing modern educational challenges and fostering a transformative learning environment for both staff and students.
