The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, has announced the commencement of the selection process for its next Vice-Chancellor, with the position expected to become vacant in February 2026.
Established in 2011 by the Federal Government, FUOYE operates two campuses — the main campus in Oye-Ekiti and another in Ikole-Ekiti — with a student population of over 59,000. The university hosts 15 faculties, including Arts, Basic Medical Sciences, Computing, Education, Law, Management Sciences, Pharmacy, Communication and Media Studies, Social Sciences, and Science at Oye-Ekiti; while Agriculture, Computer and Information Engineering, Engineering, Environmental Design, and Management & Multidisciplinary Studies are based in Ikole-Ekiti. The institution also operates a Postgraduate School.
About the Role
The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive, Chief Accounting, and Academic Head of the University, as well as the Chairman of Senate and Congregation. The role involves overseeing academic and administrative operations, maintaining discipline, advising the Governing Council, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and representing the university locally and internationally.

Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must:
- Possess a Doctorate degree from a recognised university (except for Professors of Medicine).
- Be a serving or retired Professor with at least 10 years in that rank in a reputable institution.
- Demonstrate a strong academic and administrative record.
- Be able to attract international research and development grants.
- Have a clear vision for the university’s growth and advancement.
- Be of proven integrity, morally sound, and in good physical and mental health.
- Not be older than 65 years by February 2026.
Terms of Appointment
The successful candidate will serve a single term of five years, under the terms applicable to Vice-Chancellors of Federal Universities in Nigeria, as determined by the Federal Government and the University’s Governing Council.
