FUTA Opens Applications for University Advanced Basic Science (UABS) Programme 2024/2025

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has announced the commencement of applications for its University Advanced Basic Science (UABS) Programme for the 2024/2025 academic session. This programme, hosted by the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), aims to prepare students for direct entry into 200 level courses at FUTA and other universities in Nigeria and abroad.

Objective and Admission Requirements The UABS Programme is designed to equip candidates with the necessary academic foundation to excel in undergraduate studies. Applicants are required to possess a minimum of five credit passes in subjects including English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, or Geography, obtained in not more than two sittings of O/L examinations (WAEC/GCE/NECO/NABTEB). The programme duration spans one academic session divided into two semesters, operating on a full-time basis.

Upon completion of the UABS Programme, successful candidates gain admission into 200 level undergraduate programmes at FUTA, other Nigerian universities, and select foreign universities through programmes like CIE, IJMBE, and JUPEB.

Mode of Study and Duration The UABS Programme will be conducted on a full-time basis over one academic session comprising two semesters. Candidates will be immersed in rigorous academic training aimed at ensuring their readiness for higher education challenges.

A-Level Subject Combinations Prospective students can choose from various subject combinations such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology; Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics; and others tailored to their academic interests and career aspirations.

Foreign Affiliated Universities FUTA's UABS Programme also provides pathways for admission into prestigious foreign universities including Soochow University (China), University of Bedfordshire (UK), University of Central Lancashire (UK), University of Birmingham (UK), and De Montfort University (UK), offering a range of programmes in fields such as Medicine, Business Studies, Computing Sciences, Law, and Engineering.
