Gov Sule Inaugurates 5th Governing Council Of NSUK

The visitor to the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule has inaugurated the 5th Governing Council of the University with a charge to them to initiate policies and programs that will further establish the University as a 21st citadel of learning.

Governor Sule gave the charge while inaugurating members of the 5th Governing Council of the University on Monday, 15th January 2024 at the Government House Lafia.

In his address shortly after the inauguration, Governor Sule stated that the University has recorded tremendous success in research and scholarship over the years making Nasarawa State University, Keffi, one of the most viable Universities in Nigeria, noting that it is in consolidation of the gains recorded so far that informed the composition of the formidable team headed by Professor Muhammad Attahiru Jega.

Governor Sule who paid glowing tributes to the immediate past Pro-Chancellor Professor Adamu Baikie and members of the outgone council also appreciated Professor Jega for accepting to serve as the chairman and Pro-Chancellor of the Governing Council stressing that his administration will give them all the support it needs to deliver on its mandate.

In his response, Professor Attahiru Jega thanked the visitor to the University for finding him worthy of the appointment noting that the calibre of personalities appointed will add value to the growth and development of NSUK. He also gave the assurance that the 5th Governing Council under his watch would work assiduously to achieve the mandate given to it.

Members of the 5th Governing Council sworn in are, Professor Attahiru Muhammad Jega, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Dr. Ahmad Gero, member, Alhaji Shuaibu Abdullahi Kore, member, Mr. Thomas Ogiri, member, Hon. Mary Enwongulu, member, Mallam Mohammed Sani Bala, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, member, Barrister Labaran Magaji, Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, member.

Elected Senate representatives to the council sworn in are, Professor Abdullahi Adamu Sulaiman, member, Professor Benneth Colman Uzoechi, member, Professor M.M. Addua, member, and Dr. Adamu Tanko Ogah, member.

Elected Congregation representatives to the Council sworn in are, Dr. Tanimu Yusuf, member representing the teaching staff and Comrade Suleiman Buhari member representing the non-teaching staff of the University.

Statutory members of the Governing Council sworn in are the Vice-Chancellor Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, member, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Professor Abdullahi Modibbo, member, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor Theophilus Lagi, member, and Mallam Bala Isyaka Ahmed II, Registrar and secretary to council.
