ESUT has outlined the specific requirements and procedures for postgraduate admissions to ensure that aspiring scholars understand the path to higher education in their chosen field.

To be considered for admission to the Postgraduate Diploma program, candidates must meet the following criteria such as Hold a first-degree qualification that is acceptable to ESUT's Senate. This includes graduates of ESUT and those from other approved universities who possess a first-degree qualification that meets the university's standards. Possess good grades in non-first-degree qualifications that are also acceptable to ESUT's Senate. This category includes the following qualifications: Higher National Diploma (HND) with an upper credit or above in a relevant discipline. HND with a lower credit in a relevant discipline, coupled with a minimum of five years of relevant post-qualification experience. Holders of professional qualifications such as FIMLT, FNLT, FIST, AIB, ACCA, ACMA, ICAN, CPA, ACCS, and ACIS.

The admission procedure for postgraduate programs at ESUT involves a meticulous evaluation process. The steps are as follows, the Departmental Postgraduate Studies Committee will recommend candidates for admission to the Faculty Postgraduate Studies Committee and the Board of the School of Postgraduate Studies. This multi-tiered approach ensures that candidates meet the academic and department-specific requirements.  Candidates offered admission must accept it within three months from the date of the offer.

Registration must take place at the commencement of a session. However, under special circumstances, registration can be deferred for one academic year. The academic program for the Postgraduate Diploma involves coursework and a creative research project. Candidates can choose to study on a full-time or part-time basis. Staff members of the university who possess the necessary qualifications are eligible for part-time study. The duration of the full-time Postgraduate Diploma program is a minimum of 12 calendar months, while part-time programs span at least 18 months. Evening programs, where offered, typically last for four semesters.

Candidates must complete a workload of at least 28 to 36 credit hours, including a research project worth six credit hours. Examinations are held at the end of each course and semester. The passing grade for a course is C (50) on a 5-point grade scale, and a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 is required for the award of a Postgraduate Diploma certificate. For those pursuing a Master's degree at ESUT, the program typically spans a minimum of 12 calendar months for full-time students and 18 months for part-time students. The maximum duration is three years for full-time students and four years for part-time students. In exceptional cases, when extensions are necessary, candidates may apply for approval through the appropriate channels.
