Kaduna Polytechnic Management Intervenes Following Controversial Dress Code Enforcement

The Management of Kaduna Polytechnic has officially addressed a viral social media incident involving the enforcement of the institution's dress code policy at the College of Business and Management Studies (CBMS).

In a special bulletin released on Thursday, March 12, 2026, the Polytechnic’s leadership clarified its position after a video surfaced showing several students being barred from attending lectures by members of the Dress Code Committee.

After reviewing the footage, the Management stated that the attire worn by the affected students appeared "moderate and appropriate" under the university's existing guidelines. The institution explicitly noted that the students should not have been prevented from attending their academic sessions based on their appearance in the video.

While reaffirming its commitment to a Dress Code Policy designed to promote "decency and professionalism," the Management issued a stern warning against arbitrary or extreme enforcement. Key points from the press release include:

Official Investigation: An immediate inquiry has been launched to determine the facts of the incident and identify any lapses in the application of the policy.

Commitment to Education: The institution emphasized that enforcement must not "unduly impede" a student's right to education.

The Deputy Registrar of Information & Protocol, Godwin B. Ayegba, speaking on behalf of Management, urged students with complaints to use official institutional channels rather than resorting to social media.
