According to a press release by Mayowa John Adejobi, James Avoseh, Ademola Bokoh, Tinka Gabrie, Francis Avoseh, and Medemaku Noah, the dismissals were allegedly based on frivolous charges brought against them by the previous LASU Governing Council. The union leaders, including Dr. Isaac Akinloye Oyewumi, Dr. Adebowale Adeyemi-Suenu, Dr. Anthony Dansu, Dr. Adeolu Oluwaseyi Oyekan, and Dr. Oluwakemi Adebisi Aboderin-Shonibare, were reportedly terminated for attempting to expose illegal acts within the institution.

Despite legal challenges and a court ruling questioning the university's actions, the dismissals proceeded. However, in February 2023, LASU's new governing council, chaired by Sir David Sunmoni, reportedly reversed the dismissals and reinstated the officers following committee reports that vindicated the union leaders.

However, the Lagos State government allegedly intervened to halt the implementation of the council's decision just 24 hours after its resolution. The residents are now calling on Governor Sanwo-Olu to intervene and ensure the reinstatement of Dr. Dansu and his colleagues, emphasizing the need for justice and fairness.

This development underscores the ongoing controversy surrounding the dismissal of union leaders at LASU and highlights the community's determination to seek redress for perceived injustices.
