LASU Engineering Prodigy Rahmat Alade Secures Top Internship at MTN Headquarters

Rahmat Alade, a 400-level Electronics and Computer Engineering student at Lagos State University (LASU), has reached a new milestone in her burgeoning career by securing a competitive internship at the MTN Nigeria Headquarters in Lagos.

Recognized as one of the most decorated female engineering students in the institution, Alade’s transition into industry practice follows a string of high-profile academic and leadership achievements.

Alade has consistently broken barriers at the LASU Epe Campus. She recently made history as the first "Word Lord" from the campus, winning the prestigious LASU Debate Society competition. Her excellence has been formally recognized by both the Nigerian Universities Engineering Students Association (NUESA-LASU) and the Association of Electronic and Computer Engineering Students (AECES-LASU), both of which named her Most Outstanding Female Student.

Serving as a Lagos State Youth Ambassador for 2025, Alade has leveraged her platform to advocate for youth empowerment and digital literacy. In addition to her engineering studies, she is a skilled UI/UX designer and a sought-after event host, recently co-coordinating the Engineering Design Sprint 1.0, the largest student-led technical event on the Epe Campus.

Currently interning within the Microwave and Satellite Unit of MTN’s Network Department, Alade describes the opportunity as a result of "persistence and a refusal to settle for mediocrity." Her role at the telecommunications giant involves hands-on experience with national network infrastructure, bridging the gap between complex engineering theory and large-scale industrial application.

"I believe in growth and pushing limits," Alade stated. "Success is the result of consistency and the courage to avoid the comfort of a middle ground."

As she completes her penultimate year, Rahmat Alade remains a benchmark for the modern Nigerian student—balancing technical expertise, oratorical skill, and a commitment to community leadership.
