Explaining the selection process, Professor Abolarin clarified that the recipients were chosen based on stringent criteria resembling those of the Gani Fawehinmi Foundation, ensuring that only truly indigent students with commendable academic performance were considered.

He revealed that out of approximately 68 applicants, only six students were selected as beneficiaries due to the limited financial resources of the union. Despite this constraint, Professor Abolarin expressed optimism about expanding the scholarship program to reach more deserving students in subsequent years.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Professor Abolarin stressed the importance of safeguarding the educational pursuits of financially disadvantaged students, asserting that neglecting their needs would not serve the best interests of Nigeria as a nation.
