The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) South West Zone D, led by Comrade Alao John and represented by Deputy Coordinator Comrade Taiwo Owolewa, visited Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) to show solidarity with students injured in a recent natural disaster.

The Leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) South West Zone D has demonstrated solidarity with students injured in a recent natural disaster at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). The visit, led by the Zone's Coordinator, Comrade Alao John, represented by the Capacity Deputy Coordinator, Comrade Taiwo Owolewa, aimed to show support for the affected students and the entire OAU community during this challenging time.

Upon arrival, the NANS delegation was warmly received by the Students' Union Executive and student leaders, expressing gratitude for their hospitality and collaboration. Subsequently, discussions were held with the Dean of Students, representing the Vice-Chancellor, to address the recent events and measures being taken to prevent future occurrences.

The visit extended to the Health Center of OAU, where the NANS leadership met with the Health Center Director to receive updates on the injured students' condition. They were relieved to learn that the victims are receiving adequate medical care, with some already discharged from the hospital. The Health Center team and university management were commended for their swift response to the crisis.

In a statement, Comrade Owolewa Taiwo, Deputy Coordinator of NANS South West, emphasized the organization's commitment to supporting and advocating for the welfare of students. He called on relevant authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly and implement preventive measures to ensure the safety of students in the future.

NANS South West reaffirmed its solidarity with the students of OAU and pledged to continue advocating for their rights and interests.
