Niger State Relocates Boarding Schools to Minna to Safeguard Students from Bandit Threats

In a bid to enhance the security of students and deter potential attacks by bandits, the Niger State government has announced its decision to relocate all boarding schools in the state to the capital city, Minna.
This move was disclosed during a post-executive council meeting media briefing held on Thursday, following the recent abduction of over 128 students and teachers at the Government Science College, Kagara.

Speaking at the briefing, the state's Commissioner for Lands, Maurice Magaji, and three other commissioners explained that the decision to relocate boarding schools is a temporary measure aimed at preventing a repeat of the harrowing incident at the Government Science College.
Commissioner Magaji emphasized that this decision should not be interpreted as a surrender to the challenges posed by banditry. Rather, it reflects the government's commitment to intensifying efforts in the fight against criminal elements within the state.

Furthermore, the state government intends to reclaim all lands allocated to individuals, whether or not they possess a Certificate of Occupancy. This action is designed to facilitate the expansion of existing facilities to accommodate the schools that will be relocated.
