Nnamdi Azikiwe University Vice-Chancellor Receives Ministerial Committee on Medical Simulation Centres
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, received a delegation from the Ministerial Implementation and Monitoring Committee on Medical Simulation Centres, assuring them of the university’s full support for the project.
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, received a delegation from the Ministerial Implementation and Monitoring Committee on Medical Simulation Centres, assuring them of the university’s full support for the project.

The four-member team, led by Professor Enoch O. Uche, presented their report on the proposed Medical Simulation and Innovation Centre at the College of Medicine, Nnewi Campus. Prof. Uche explained that the committee, established by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, aims to address challenges in medical training, improve patient safety, and reduce medical errors. The intervention aligns with TETFund’s commitment to supporting innovative solutions for teaching and learning in medical education.
During the visit, the committee assessed the infrastructural scope, curriculum, administrative setup, and expertise required for the centre, while also emphasizing the importance of a strong collaboration between the university management and the Teaching Hospital. Prof. Uche commended UNIZIK for being among the eight pioneering institutions selected for the initiative, highlighting the university’s high-caliber scholars.

In response, Professor Bond Anyaehie thanked the delegation and reiterated his commitment to supporting the project. He noted ongoing consultations with the Chief Medical Director of the Teaching Hospital to advance the initiative and emphasized his policy of completing abandoned projects before embarking on new ones. He also acknowledged the support of the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny S.T. Echono, and announced that road construction at Okofia would commence soon through the intervention of the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo.

Oduche, Head of Procurement Engr. Ralph Okeke, Director of Physical Planning Arc. Shittu Owolabi, and Dr. Chika Okonkwo.
