NOUN Students Raise Alarm Over Inaccessible Portal

Students of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) are expressing deep frustration over their inability to access the university's online portal. This issue has persisted for several weeks, affecting students' ability to check results and manage their academic records.

Godfrey Ogah, a 400-level Mass Communication student, reported that he has been unable to access his portal for the past three weeks. Ogah stated that his matriculation number, which he has used for over four years, is now showing as "not found on NOUN list" during login attempts. Despite following the university's directive to visit the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for regularisation, Ogah has yet to find a solution.

In July 2024, NOUN and other open distance learning centers required prospective students to register through JAMB to address fraudulent activities and maintain the integrity of candidates' records. JAMB has mandated that all applicants provide their National Identification Number during registration.

However, Ogah mentioned that he did not gain admission through JAMB, complicating his situation. Ajoke Oni, another 400-level Mass Communication student, shared similar concerns, stating that despite completing her JAMB regularisation, she cannot access her results or the portal.

Chukwudi Anya, a fellow student, described his frustration after discovering that his matric number was also missing. He noted that many students who have undergone regularisation are still facing issues with portal access. Anya expressed a plea for NOUN to address these problems promptly.

Attempts to contact NOUN for a response were unsuccessful. Calls and SMS sent to the university’s spokesperson, Mallam Ibrahim Sheme, went unanswered.
