NUC Accreditation Panel Visits University of Maiduguri

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, has called on the National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Panel to carry out a comprehensive and objective assessment of the University’s newly established postgraduate and undergraduate programmes under the Faculty of Management Sciences.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, has called on the National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Panel to carry out a comprehensive and objective assessment of the University’s newly established postgraduate and undergraduate programmes under the Faculty of Management Sciences.

Professor Mele made the call while receiving the NUC accreditation teams at the Muhammadu Buhari Senate Building on Monday, October 27, 2025.

He encouraged the teams to freely evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the programmes and offer constructive recommendations to help improve academic quality. The Vice-Chancellor stressed the importance of a smooth and transparent accreditation exercise, noting that all programmes must meet the NUC’s required standards.

Programmes scheduled for accreditation include Postgraduate Programmes in Marketing, Banking and Finance, and Business Administration, as well as Undergraduate Programmes in Social Work (B.Sc.) and Pharmacy (B.Pharm.)

Professor Mele further appealed to all Deans, Heads of Departments, and staff of the Academic Planning Unit to give the visiting teams maximum cooperation and provide all necessary documents and support to ensure a successful exercise.

In his remarks, the Leader of the NUC Accreditation Team, Professor Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai, stated that their mission was to evaluate the level of preparedness of the University for the newly established programmes and to report their findings to the Commission. He emphasized that the exercise is part of the NUC’s continuous efforts to maintain high standards and ensure quality assurance in Nigerian universities.
