The Department of Petroleum Marketing and Business Studies at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, on Tuesday, 26th August 2025, held a Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) defense for its ND II part-time students.

The Department of Petroleum Marketing and Business Studies at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, on Tuesday, 26th August 2025, held a Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) defense for its ND II part-time students.

The event provided a platform for students to present and defend the knowledge and experiences gained during their industrial attachment, typically spanning three months.

The SIWES defense allowed students to showcase their understanding, answer questions, and demonstrate the validity and originality of their work. Students delivered their presentations orally, detailing the challenges and learning experiences from their industrial placements.

The program was overseen by the Head of Department/Dean, Mr. Carr Ezekiel Hart, alongside faculty members Dr. Livinus Kalu Achi, Smart Onu, and Ikpechukwu Jonathan, who provided guidance and assessment throughout the session.

During the defense, students were evaluated through a rigorous Q&A session, where examiners—comprising faculty and external experts—assessed their knowledge of SIWES methodology, expectations, and significance. Key skills such as effective communication, critical thinking, and the ability to respond to challenging questions were central to the evaluation.

The Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, reaffirmed its commitment to excellence in applied learning and contemporary research, aiming to be the premier institution for practical and industry-relevant education in Nigeria.
