Spanish lecturer hosts UNILAG Polyglot Nights, Fosters Language and Cultural Exchange in Lagos
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) is witnessing a unique cultural and linguistic exchange through its "Polyglot Nights" event, spearheaded by Spanish lecturer Belén Calvo Hereza and her colleagues from the Lycée Français Louis Pasteur.
The dynamic cultural and linguistic landscape of Lagos experienced a transformative event at the Polyglot Nights, held at La Taverna restaurant on Victoria Island, Lagos. Spearheaded by Belén Calvo Hereza, a Spanish lecturer at the University of Lagos, along with Paola Hernández Gómez and Jérémy Delespaut from the Lycée Français Louis Pasteur, the Polyglot Nights have swiftly become a hotspot for language and cultural exchange.
Designed as a platform for Spanish and French language enthusiasts to convene, converse, and expand their linguistic abilities in a relaxed environment, the event has garnered significant interest among students from diverse academic backgrounds. With a vision to nurture cross-cultural understanding and language proficiency, Belén expressed her hopes for the event to endure beyond her tenure in Nigeria.
Attendees were treated to an engaging evening of language immersion, facilitated by Belén, who ensured seamless interactions and logistical arrangements. Taiwo Precious, a European Languages and Integration Studies student, described the experience as exciting and enjoyable, emphasizing the warmth of the atmosphere. Adegbe Mercy, an Arts Education (French) student, expressed her newfound passion for language learning, inspired by the Polyglot Nights.
