UNILORIN to Launch Special CBT Hall for Physically Challenged Students
UNILORIN will soon establish a dedicated Computer-Based Test (CBT) hall for physically challenged students, enhancing accessibility for exams.
The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) is set to enhance its commitment to inclusivity with the establishment of a special Computer-Based Test (CBT) hall tailored for physically challenged students. This new initiative will ensure that Post-UTME and other computer-based examinations are accessible to all students.
Prof. Kamilu Rauf, the Director of CBT at UNILORIN, announced the development during an appearance on the popular Yoruba programme “Oro to n lo” on UNILORIN FM, hosted by General Manager Mr. Idris Alooma. Prof. Rauf praised the recent four-day Post-UTME screening, calling it “seamless, hitch-free, and highly successful,” and expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for his support.
The decision to conduct tests exclusively on the UNILORIN campus was driven by security concerns and the need for reliable facilities. Prof. Rauf highlighted the range of exams managed by the CBT Directorate, including sandwich exams, police exams, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) exams, and non-teaching staff promotion exams.
The new facilities are part of UNILORIN’s broader commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, building on its pioneering role in CBT adoption in Nigeria. Prof. Rauf also noted that international students are exempt from CBT tests due to their own national examinations.
The Director acknowledged the contributions of various stakeholders, including the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Abayomi Omotesho, CBT staff, and security personnel, for their role in supporting the Directorate’s efforts.
