The University of Uyo has officially approved the schedule and guidelines for the 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students.

According to an internal memorandum from the Acting Director of Academic Affairs, the event will hold on Friday, 28th November 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the University Convocation Arena, Main Campus, Nwaniba Road, Uyo. The memo, addressed to all faculty officers, outlines preparations and responsibilities to ensure the smooth conduct of the ceremony.

Key Details and Requirements

  1. Preparation of Matriculation Registers:
    Faculties are required to compile and prepare matriculation registers for all incoming freshmen.

  2. Display of Registered Students’ List:
    Faculties must display the list of registered matriculating students to allow verification and cross-checking of names.

  3. Collection of Academic Gowns:
    Arrangements should be made for eligible students to collect academic gowns from the Stores Department.

  4. Payment for Matriculation Gown:
    All matriculating students must provide proof of payment of the approved fee of ₦10,000 for hiring the matriculation gown. Payments are to be made through the University of Uyo portal (uniuyo.edu.ng/eportals) under the eBursaryCollect category, selecting Matriculation Gown.

  5. Publicity:
    Faculties are urged to ensure wide dissemination of the date, time, and venue of the ceremony.

  6. Matriculation Pledge:
    The matriculation pledge must be produced for signing during the ceremony and submitted to the respective Faculty.

  7. Signing of Matriculation Registers:
    Students are required to sign the matriculation register at their Faculty Office immediately after the ceremony.

  8. Admission Validity:
    Students who fail to sign the matriculation register risk invalidating their admission.

  9. Submission Deadline for Signed Registers:
    Faculty Officers must submit the completed matriculation registers to the Admissions Officer on or before Friday, 5th December 2025.
