UNN Appoints New Acting Vice-Chancellor
Professor Polycarp Chigbu, a renowned statistician and former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has been appointed as the Acting Vice-Chancellor.
In a significant development for the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Professor Polycarp Chigbu has been appointed as the Acting Vice-Chancellor. The appointment, confirmed during the 288th Governing Council Meeting on Friday, August 16 at the university’s Enugu Campus (UNEC), marks a new chapter for the institution.
Professor Chigbu, a celebrated Professor of Statistics and former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) at UNN, was selected following a rigorous and highly competitive process. Out of the five candidates shortlisted by the Senate, he emerged as the clear frontrunner, garnering an impressive 285 votes from the University Senate.
The selection process, which adhered to the Governing Council’s directives, was designed to ensure the best leadership for the university. Professor Chigbu’s overwhelming support reflects his distinguished career and the confidence the university community has in his ability to lead.
