ZSUBEB chairman Laments Over Rising Number of Out-of-School Children in Zamfara

The Chairman of the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board, ZSUBEB, Professor Nasiru Anka, has lamented on the State's large number of out-of-school children, records showing that the number of out-of-school children has gone up to 61 per cent in the State.

Anka assured that there are formidable strategies to tackle the issue and reduce the rate to 20 per cent, he also said the board would come up with a policy to enhance parents’ enrollment of their children in school which he said would be done through public enlightenment.

He said the challenge requires a multi-faceted approach, pointing out that it is on top of the list of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration’s agenda. He also stated that if the insecurity is addressed in the rural communities, enrollment of children will be enhanced.

The chairman pledged to make teaching jobs attractive by improving the welfare of teachers, to enhance the quality of teaching and education in Zamfara.

He therefore called on staff members and stakeholders to work closely together to improve the quality of basic education.
