ABU Institute of Education Collaborates with Aderonke Foundation on Leadership Skills

The Institute of Education at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has partnered with the Aderonke Foundation to teach leadership skills to students.

The collaboration was announced during a courtesy visit by the Chief Executive Officer of the Aderonke Foundation, Dr. Aderonke Kujore, to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adamu Ahmed.

The Vice-Chancellor commended the Institute of Education for the collaboration, praising Dr. Kujore's passion for rescuing the Nigerian education system and providing access to education and technology for underprivileged and out-of-school children. He assured the institute and the foundation of ABU's support towards teaching undergraduate students leadership skills.

The collaboration aims to organize a "Youth Leadership Conference" for ABU students, as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the institute and the foundation. The Aderonke Foundation, which has established over 120 libraries across Nigeria, has been providing basic technology training to over 50,000 students in local schools and leadership development programs for students in higher institutions.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, suggested the inclusion of local languages in the curriculum for almajiri and out-of-school children to ease learning barriers. Dr. Kujore emphasized the need for collective responsibility to save the country's future and urged the university to establish a Centre for Leadership Development to improve the quality of graduates.
