In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, said the purpose of the programme was for the students to be exposed to the practical aspect of the theory they have learnt as well as to bridge the gap between the theory and the practical part of their various disciplines.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Raymond B. Bako, stressed that the industrial training would help the students immensely to acquire industrial experience and to develop their skills.

He called on the students to imbibe the spirit of hard work and dedication wherever they find themselves.

The SIWES Coordinator of the University, Prof. Nasiru Rabi’u, charged the students to take the exercise seriously as it is a core course, saying that the industrial training was for them to acquire the basic skills that would be of useful to them and the society.

Prof. Rabiu also urged the students to be good ambassadors of the University, as they are expected to display good character at their various places of industrial attachment.

In his speech, the Area Manager, Industrial Trust Fund (ITF), Kaduna Office, Engr. Garba Hassan, said that the rationale behind the programme was to educate the students prepare for industrial attachment.

The Manager, who was represented by the Coordinator, ABU SIWES, Prof. Nasiru Rabiu, stressed the objectives of industrial work experience as an avenue for students to acquire industrial skills and experience in line with their areas of studies.

He also said that the industrial training was to prepare the students for the industrial work situation they are to face after graduation and to also expose them to work methods and techniques in handing equipment and machinery that may not be available in their institutions.

The Manager urged for cooperation from the Departmental SIWES Coordinators for the actualization of the scheme’s set goals.
