Ahmadu Bello University to Host 3rd International Conference on Economic Resilience

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) will host the 3rd International Conference organized by the Department of Economics, featuring Dr. Mansur Mukhtar, the former Vice President of the Islamic Development Bank, as a key speaker. The conference, titled "Navigating Economic Resilience in Nigeria: Strategies for Growth and Stability," is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at the CBN Centre for Economics and Finance within the university.

Dr. Mukhtar, a former Minister of Finance and the current Chairman of the Board for the Bank of Industry (BOI), is expected to present a lead paper at the conference. Keynote lectures will also be delivered by Prof. Adeola Adenikinju, President of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES), and Prof. Abdul-Ganiyu Ajani Garba, Coordinator of the Centre for Growth and Development, Ibadan. Both speakers have previously served on the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

In addition, Dr. Baba Yusuf Musa, Director-General of the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM), will present a lead paper. The conference will be chaired by Prof. Mike Kwanashie, former Vice-Chancellor of Veritas University, Abuja, with His Highness Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, CFR, the Emir of Zazzau, serving as the royal father of the day. The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala, FNIOB, FSAN, will officially declare the conference open, while Prof. Dahiru Suleiman, Head of the Department of Economics, will host the event.
