ANUPA Organizes Training for Staff of University of Africa Toru-orua (UAT) As VC Admonishes Staff on Work Improvement

The Acting Vice Chancellor spoke as the Chief Host at a two day Registry Workshop organized by the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA) UAT chapter in conjunction with the Management of the University of Africa Toru Orua, held on Tuesday 20th and 21st February, 2024 in the Vice Chancellors Boardroom at its main campus in Toru-orua.
In his address, the AVC emphasized the need for continuous training which is why the University management agreed to support the initiative of ANUPA to organize the training Programme. He expressed confidence in the caliber of resource persons brought in to train the administrators, adding that with the wide wealth of knowledge of someone like Sir David Suoware who has gathered experience as a seasoned university administrator from several universities, he is sure the workshop would be a refreshing and fruitful one. He added that the training programme is an auspicious occasion and as such participants should cease it an opportunity for self assessment and improve thereafter.
The Host of the training workshop, the Registrar of the University of Africa, Dr. Akpoebi Adesi during his opening remark, appreciated the Acting Vice-Chancellor for keying into the vision of ANUPA in supporting the training programme and giving subsequent approval. He added that in the field of university administration, there are emerging trends, thus the necessity for the training programme. He further stated that the training programme would possibly hold on a yearly basis to enable the university’s administrators keep abreast with emerging trends in university administration. He therefore urged the participants to ensure that they make the best of the training and tap all necessary knowledge from the resource persons.
Responding, the UAT Chapter Chairman of ANUPA, Mr. Sunday Pere, appreciated the AVC and the management team for their magnanimity in supporting the training programme. He added that the training programme has been on hold for some time but on approaching the AVC, without any huddles he encouraged the drive of the association. He prayed God to continually grant the AVC wisdom to pilot the affairs of the University of Africa, while also appreciating the registrar and colleagues for the support mated on him and his executives.
Other resource persons present at the workshop are; Mr. Kenekayoro Lawrence Edougha, a former Deputy Registrar from the Niger Delta University, Mr. Domo Alagoa, a Deputy Registrar from the Niger Delta University, Barr. Inko-tariah of the Staff Development and Training Unit from the University of Port-Harcourt, and Mrs. Madugba Irene, Director Personnel Affairs, also from the University of Port Harcourt.
Highpoints of the training workshop was the interactive sessions, where administrators asked and discussed robustly on emerging trends in university administration while also tackling issues of the 21st century university administrators.
The training workshop was well attended by the administrators in the University of Africa, Toru-orua.
