Caleb University Vice-Chancellor Urges Staff to Strive for Excellence in New Academic Session

The Vice-Chancellor of Caleb University, Professor Nosa Owens-Ibie, has called on staff to commit to elevating the institution to new heights in the 2024/25 academic session. He made the appeal during a two-day colloquium titled “Driving Excellence for Global Relevance,” held at the university’s Multipurpose Hall.

The event, organized by the university management to prepare staff for the upcoming academic session, featured keynote addresses from Rachel Harvey, Global Engagement Officer at Lancaster University, UK, and Professor Peter Okebukola, former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC).

In his address, Prof. Owens-Ibie highlighted the importance of maintaining a positive attitude in the workplace, warning staff against using their positions to intimidate or exploit students. “A positive attitude will help you learn and grow. Irrespective of your education level, a bad attitude will diminish your value,” he stated, urging staff to uphold the highest ethical standards.

Prof. Okebukola, meanwhile, encouraged the university to aim for a top-three ranking in Nigeria and the top 10 in Africa. He praised the institution’s recent partnership with Washington State University in the U.S. as a positive step towards achieving this goal.
