Christ School Alumni Advocate for Advanced Technology Integration in School Curriculum

The 1984 alumni set of Christ School, Ado-Ekiti, has urged the government to incorporate advanced technology into secondary school curricula. Speaking during the school's 2024 homecoming, alumni chairman Olu Hector Fowobaje emphasized the need to teach skills like coding, robotics, and STEAM subjects to help students compete globally.

The 1984 alumni set of Christ School, Ado-Ekiti, has called on the government at all levels to incorporate advanced technological tools into the curriculum of secondary schools across the country. The appeal was made during the 2024 homecoming anniversary and lecture series held in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

Chairman of the 1979-84 alumni set, Olu Hector Fowobaje, emphasized the need for students to be exposed to relevant technological skills such as coding, robotics, and other tech-related tools to ensure they can compete favorably with their peers globally.

Highlighting the importance of technological education, Fowobaje said, "The government needs to inject more funding into the secondary education system, especially for the provision of modern laboratories. Including technologically focused courses like robotics, coding, and STEAM—Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics—will significantly improve the quality of education."

He also suggested that the government should promote competitions among secondary schools to foster growth and better educational outcomes.

As part of their efforts to give back to their alma mater, the 1984 alumni set has invested over N40 million in reconstructing a dilapidated building within the school premises. "We have brought our old classmates together, with over 40 of us reconnecting after 40 years, to contribute to the school's development. The use of technology has played a significant role in facilitating this reunion and our contributions," Fowobaje added.

He assured the school management of the alumni's continued support in ensuring the growth and betterment of Christ School through a collaborative relationship.
