The management of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has reaffirmed its commitment to administrative excellence as it commenced its 2025 Annual Registry Workshop focused on enhancing modern record-keeping and service delivery in tertiary institutions.

The three-day workshop, themed “The Registry as the Fulcrum for Effective Service Delivery in Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria,” began on October 15, 2025, and brought together staff, administrators, and invited guests from sister institutions and corporate organizations.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Omojola Awosusi, a former Registrar of EKSU, described the registry as the “engine room and heartbeat” of every academic institution. He emphasized that the efficiency of any university system is rooted in the effectiveness of its registry operations.
According to Dr. Awosusi, the modern registry has evolved beyond traditional practices, requiring constant training and the adoption of technology-driven methods to maintain institutional integrity and ensure accurate record management.
“Registry is the engine room of any administration. We are the custodians of records, servicing various committees and disseminating information. In essence, we are the contact point for anything related to record keeping,” he stated.
He further stressed that the efficiency or inefficiency of a university’s registry directly affects its public image, citing recent controversies in other institutions as examples of the importance of proper documentation and record integrity.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Babatola Ayodele, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) described the workshop as both “timely and necessary,” given the evolving nature of higher education driven by technology and global standards.
“As higher education continues to evolve, it becomes imperative that officers in the registry continually update their knowledge, refine their skills, and embrace modern administrative techniques and tools,” he said.
The Registrar, Mrs. Ife Oluwole, explained that the workshop’s goal is to train, retrain, and reposition staff for improved performance in line with contemporary administrative practices.
“We expect participants to fully engage with the sessions to derive maximum benefits, learn from experienced professionals, and strengthen networking ties with colleagues,” she added.
The workshop will conclude on October 16, 2025, with participants drawn from within and outside the university community, including representatives from sister institutions and corporate organizations.
