Elizade University Drives Academic Excellence with Faculty Capacity Building Session

In a strategic move to reinforce its vision of becoming a world-class institution, Elizade University has conducted an intensive in-house capacity-building session for its faculty members.

The training, organized as the university commences the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic session, aimed to equip academics with modern professional skills and strengthen research impact. 

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Philip Oguntunde, who recently assumed his substantive role in January 2026, delivered a charge to the faculty. He emphasized that research visibility and global rankings are central to the university's prestige. In light of rapid technological advancements like Artificial Intelligence (AI), he urged staff to stay ahead of the "information superhighway" to remain relevant in a competitive higher education landscape. 

Coordinated by the University Librarian, Ayoola Aregbesola, and facilitated by experts including Akinsanya Adebayo, the session highlighted several critical pillars:

Research Visibility: Strategies for projecting research outputs to global academic domains.

Continuous Learning: The necessity of "learning, relearning, and unlearning" in the 21st-century knowledge ecosystem.

Global Competitiveness: Positioning the institution to produce graduates who are solution providers in the global economy. 

This initiative follows a series of recent achievements for the university, including: 

National Recognition: The university's Law students recently clinched 1st and 3rd positions in national debate competitions, outperforming several first-generation institutions.

Global Research Impact: Two Elizade University professors were recently ranked among the World’s Top 2% Scientists.

International Partnerships: The university is currently exploring European collaborations, particularly with German brands like Mercedes-Benz, to facilitate extended industrial training for its students.
