FULafia Business Administration Department Trains Students on Entrepreneurship
Led by four academics—Dr. Abdullahi Dauda (Head of Department), Dr. Ogbu James Ogbu, Dr. Musa Yakubu, and Mrs. Hanatu Umar—the initiative reflected FULafia's commitment to empowering youth for self-reliance and economic development.
The Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Management Sciences, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), has conducted an intensive training program for graduating students of Government Science School, Lafia, and Government Secondary School, Bukan-Sidi, Lafia.
The program, titled "Job Creation Opportunities for Secondary School Leavers in Nigeria and Small-Scale Business Management," aimed to equip students with entrepreneurial skills and strategies for job creation while awaiting admission into higher institutions.
Led by four academics—Dr. Abdullahi Dauda (Head of Department), Dr. Ogbu James Ogbu, Dr. Musa Yakubu, and Mrs. Hanatu Umar—the initiative reflected FULafia's commitment to empowering youth for self-reliance and economic development.
Dr. Abdullahi Dauda emphasized the program's goal, stating, *"This initiative demonstrates the Federal University of Lafia's commitment to empowering secondary school leavers and fostering entrepreneurship in Nigeria."*
As the guest speaker, Dr. Ogbu James Ogbu delivered a detailed lecture on job opportunities for secondary school graduates, including agriculture, vocational skills, ICT services, construction, and the creative industry. He also provided practical insights into managing small-scale businesses, addressing key aspects like planning, financial management, marketing, and overcoming challenges such as resource constraints and government regulations.
Dr. Ogbu encouraged students to embrace entrepreneurship as a viable career path, highlighting the importance of business registration, tax compliance, and adherence to employment laws.
Participants expressed gratitude for the impactful training and requested its extension to teachers, acknowledging the department's role in offering strategies to cope with current economic realities.
