FULafia VC commissions projects as FSSA holds maiden inter-departmental quiz debate competition

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) Faculty of Science has held its maiden inter-departmental quiz, impromptu speech and debate competition with many participants describing the event as a good development for the University.

The maiden competition was, specifically, organised by the Faculty of Science Students Association (FASSA), FULafia Chapter, and featured the commissioning of projects sponsored by the association.

The event was held at the Adamu Mallam Adamu lecture lecture hall in the Permanent Site Campus of the University.

In his addressed at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, said the grand finale for the first  inter departmental quiz, debate, impromptu speech competition conceived by the students of FASSA was timely and in tandem with the vision of his administration.

He said that the competition will "promote confidence building, talent development and yield positive results in the near future."

The vice-chancellor commended the leadership of the faculty for given the students training in various academic fields to achieve excellence.

Abdul Rahman, while advising the students to avoid nagative groups in campus and align themselves with the positive ones, he called on the leadership of the faculty to continue mentoring the students in order to sustain the existing relationship.

In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Mathew Aremu, said that the FASSA sponsored projects were constructed to foster harmonious relationship amongst students and make the environment look better.

Delivering her lecture, the Matron of FASSA, Dr Aisha Bello, applauded the FASSA executives for providing good leadership to their members.

She urged the students to take advantage of the competition to expand their extra curricular activities and enhance their knowledge and skills.

Earlier, in his welcome addressed, the President of FASSA Comrade Zaidu Yusuf Salihu, said: "We initiated many events and programmes that bring students together such as the first annual FULafia Faculty of Science public lecture tagged: Orientation for new admitted students 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic session, inter-departmental competition.”

The event featured the commissioning of students sit-out and signboard at the faculty and award presentation to the overall winners of the competition by the vice-chancellor.
