FUNAAB VC Commends Muslim Community at 35th Ramadan Lecture

The Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, commended the university’s Muslim Community for fostering unity during the 35th Ramadan Lecture themed "Fasting Beyond the Belly: Nurturing Iman and Moral Values in Pervasive Times."

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has lauded the university’s Muslim Community for fostering unity and cooperation on campus. He made this commendation on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the 35th Ramadan Lecture organized by the FUNAAB Muslim Community at the University Mosque.

Themed "Fasting Beyond the Belly: Nurturing Iman and Moral Values in Pervasive Times," the lecture aimed at deepening the spiritual consciousness of Muslims during Ramadan. Represented by the Director of the Institute of Human Resources Development (INHURD), Prof. Sheriff Adewuyi, the Vice-Chancellor praised the Muslim Community for their commitment to peaceful coexistence and urged Nigerians to use the sacred period of Ramadan, alongside the upcoming Christian Lent, to seek divine intervention for national prosperity.

Prof. Kehinde assured the Muslim faithful of the University Management's dedication to maintaining peace on campus and encouraged continued prayers for the institution and the nation’s progress.

In his address, the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu, emphasized that fasting extends beyond abstinence from food and drink, underscoring the importance of self-discipline, God-consciousness, and moral values. He urged Muslims to see Ramadan as an opportunity for deep spiritual reflection and renewal of faith.

Delivering the keynote lecture, the Guest Speaker, Alhaji Qasim Alabi, highlighted the virtues of fasting, charity, and moral uprightness. He reminded attendees that sincere fasting brings abundant rewards from Allah and cautioned against behaviors that could compromise their spiritual and social values. Alhaji Alabi further advised parents to monitor their children's online activities to safeguard moral values in the digital age, urging Muslims to remain steadfast in their faith through Quranic recitation and righteous conduct.

Earlier, the Amir of the FUNAAB Muslim Community and host of the event, Prof. Lateef Sanni, represented by Prof. Abdul-Akeem Agboola, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his continuous support towards the construction of the University Mosque. He encouraged the Muslim faithful to embody the lessons from the lecture and serve as role models in society.
