The week-long digital skills training organized by the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) and sponsored by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for selected staff of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) concluded on 28th November 2025, with a strong call for participants to translate their learning into practical productivity.

The week-long digital skills training organized by the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) and sponsored by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for selected staff of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) concluded on 28th November 2025, with a strong call for participants to translate their learning into practical productivity.

Professor Sunday Adewale, Pioneer Dean of the School of Computing, FUTA, thanked the NCC for empowering staff with practical skills in Microsoft packages and SPSS, expressing hope that the FUTA-DBI-NCC partnership will continue to grow and reach more staff in future programs. He encouraged beneficiaries to share opportunities with colleagues to expand the program’s impact.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Timothy Amos, lauded participants for their engagement and emphasized the importance of actively applying acquired skills. He urged them to form networks and continuously share how the training enhances their work, stressing that the benefits of the program depend on practical implementation.

Mr. Ayodele Kupoluyi, Director of FUTA’s Computer Resource Center (CRC), expressed satisfaction with the program and commended Professor Adewale for fostering strong partnerships with NCC and DBI. He advised participants to leverage their skills to explore online job opportunities and generate income, warning against letting the newly acquired competencies remain unused.

Training Coordinator, Mr. Emmanuel Olorunfemi, appreciated the university for providing a conducive learning environment and thanked participants for their dedication. He reiterated the need to put the digital skills to practical use, ensuring the training continues to create value.
