I-G Deploys Helicopter and Security Forces for Rescue of Abducted Kogi University Students
The deployment of the Air Component of Police Security Apparatus demonstrates the I-G's commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians, especially students across the country. The ongoing rescue operation has seen additional victims rescued, bringing the total number of rescued students to 21.
The Inspector General of Police (I-G), Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, has taken decisive action to support the rescue efforts for abducted students from Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) in Kogi State. In response to the abduction of students during their first semester examination, the I-G has deployed a helicopter and other police security resources to aid in the rescue operation.
The spokesperson for the Kogi State Police Command, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, confirmed the deployment, emphasizing the police's determination to ensure the safe return of the remaining abducted students. While 21 students have been rescued so far, efforts continue to secure the release of those still held captive.

SP Ovye-Aya expressed gratitude to the Kogi government and the university community for their cooperation and commended the collaborative efforts of security agencies, local vigilantes, and hunters in the state. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bethrand Onuoha, also extended appreciation to the I-G for the deployment of resources and praised the solidarity of the people of Kogi in supporting the security agencies.
