In a significant step towards promoting transparency and accountability in academia, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has inaugurated an Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

The inauguration ceremony, held in the prestigious Council Chamber of the university, saw the swearing-in of committee members, marking the official commencement of their duties.

Led by Dr. Stephen Ufoaroh, the purpose of the committee is clear: to uphold global best practices in the daily administrative affairs across every department, faculty, unit, and directorate within the institution. Speaking at the inauguration, the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Charles Esimone, emphasized the importance of the committee's role in ensuring seamless operational services and advancing the institution's mission of academic excellence, innovation, and research. He expressed confidence in the selected committee members, highlighting their proven track record in administration and service.

Among the distinguished members of the committee are Prof. Uche Eunice Ekpunobi from the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry, Dr. Chinyere Esimone representing the Music Department, Dr. I. Onwuatuegwu from the Philosophy Department, and Dr. Godwin Obasikene from the Medicine and Surgery Department. Additional members include Prof. Machebe Victor Ozioko from the Faculty of Law, Mr. Paul Ifezue serving as the Director of Internal Audit, Dr. Jude Okoye from the Faculty of Law, and Rev. Sr. Patricia Oranefo representing the Accountancy Department. Mr. Edward Kalu Okereke, from the Personnel Unit, has been appointed as the secretary of the committee.
