KDU VC Reveals: 50-55% of UTME Candidates Secure Admission into Nigerian Universities
At the ceremony, a total of 366 new students were admitted through UTME, Direct Entry, and transfer from other universities into various faculties at KDU.
Professor Adeniyi Olatunbosun, the Vice Chancellor of KolaDaisi University (KDU) in Ibadan, has revealed that between 50 to 55 percent of candidates who sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are granted admission into Nigerian universities.
During the 7th matriculation ceremony at KDU, Professor Olatunbosun disclosed that out of the 1,595,773 applicants for the 2023 UTME, 91 percent were seeking admission into universities, while only nine percent were seeking admission into other institutions of learning.

Professor Olatunbosun emphasized the importance of character formation alongside intellectual development, urging the newly admitted students to adhere strictly to the university's rules and regulations.
He also announced the commencement of processes for establishing new programs at the university, including B.Sc. Finance, Public Relations, Broadcasting, Film and Multimedia Studies, Criminology and Security Studies, Sociology, Social Work, Biotechnology, and Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery.

Additionally, the university is set to introduce part-time, top-up, and degree/HND conversion programs to expand access to quality education.
The convocation lecture, titled "Education: a Pathway to a Secured Future," was delivered by Professor Falohun Adeleye Samuel, who emphasized the significance of character alongside academic achievement in higher education.
