Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) has been selected by the Lagos State Ministry of Tertiary Education as one of the host centres for the "Jobs Initiative Lagos" programme, a skill-building initiative aimed at preparing penultimate-year students for the workforce. This programme is set to benefit students from various Lagos state-owned tertiary institutions, including LASUED, Lagos State University (LASU), and the Lagos State College of Nursing.
Launched on Saturday, October 26, 2024, the Jobs Initiative Lagos programme is a series of training sessions focusing on digital and employable skills. It will continue at the LASUED Oto/Ijanikin main campus over the next three Saturdays, culminating on November 16, 2024. The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between classroom education and practical skills needed in today’s job market.
Hon. Sule Tolani, the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, emphasized the value of the programme, highlighting that it equips students with practical skills beyond the academic curriculum. He commended the Lagos State Government for this forward-thinking initiative, aimed at developing future job providers and contributing to Lagos State’s economic growth. He also praised Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to fostering self-reliant, skilled graduates ready to drive innovation in sectors like ICT, commerce, and technology.
In her goodwill message, LASUED Vice Chancellor Prof. B.B. Lafiaji-Okuneye expressed pride in hosting the programme, noting that it enhances the university’s reputation as a center of excellence and professional development. She encouraged students to fully engage in the sessions and seize the opportunity to acquire critical employability skills that will benefit them in their careers.

Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Vice Chancellor of LASU, was represented by Deputy Registrar Mrs. Meriwoma Abiodun, while Provost of Lagos State College of Nursing, Mrs. Olayiwola Anuoluwapo, also offered her support.
