NSUK Faculty of Arts Organizes Workshop on Academic Integrity

The Faculty of Arts at Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), held a sensitization workshop for its staff on August 15, 2025, at the NSUK Main Library.

The event, themed “The Strategic Roles of Level Coordinators and Examination Invigilators in the Critical Pursuit of Academic Excellence and Integrity within the University System,” aimed to underscore the vital roles of invigilators and level coordinators in upholding academic standards.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Dr. Halima Aliyu Doma, who commended the Faculty for addressing such a pertinent topic. She stressed that the integrity of any academic institution is heavily dependent on effective and credible invigilation during examinations and highlighted the importance of physical briefings for invigilators before exams begin.

During the workshop, Dr. Ismail Olotu Abdullahi, Chairman of the University Central Timetable Committee, delivered a lecture on the crucial role of invigilators. He detailed key responsibilities, including early arrival, managing examination materials, and reporting irregularities. Dr. Olotu also addressed common challenges like student misconduct and proposed solutions such as increasing the number of invigilators and dividing students into smaller groups.

The second speaker, Professor Abdullahi Adamu Suleiman, Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, described Level Coordinators as key stakeholders in managing students’ academic affairs. He stated that the success of any academic program largely depends on effective planning and coordination. Professor Suleiman advocated for the use of effective communication strategies, technology integration, and the promotion of inclusivity to enhance student engagement and bridge the gap between students and coordinators.
