The National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Team for Geography has concluded its assessment at the University of Delta (UNIDELTA), marking a critical step in ensuring academic quality and programme excellence.

The team, comprising Prof. John Njoku, Prof. Tasiu Yelwa, and Rabin Ibrahim, conducted a thorough evaluation of the Department of Geography and Environmental Management.

During the exit briefing to University Management, Team Lead Prof. Njoku commended the progress made in the development of the Geography programme. He noted the availability of essential equipment but appealed for additional resources to further strengthen learning and research. He also recommended adjustments in certain areas to enhance overall programme quality.

Responding, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stella Chiemeke expressed appreciation to the NUC team for their detailed assessment and advice. She assured the team that the highlighted areas of deficiency would be addressed promptly to sustain and improve the Department’s academic standards.

The briefing was attended by key University officials, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Patricia Mbah, Bursar Dr. Sunny Ikeogwu, Director of Academic Planning Dr. Felicia Mormah, as well as Head of the Department, Dr. Clement Origho, and Dr. Mrs. Chukwurah.
