NUC Approves Commencement of Open Distance e-Learning For NSUK, Program To Kickoff With B.Sc Public Administration

In its bid to further the frontiers of education and make it more accessible to the generality of the public who through their busy schedules cannot attend the conventional University for their higher education, the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, is set to commence the Open Distance e-Learning with B.Sc in Public Administration. 

The commencement of the takeoff of the Centre was contained in an approval which was conveyed to the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman in a letter dated 11th June 2024, signed by the National Universities Commission's Acting Director of Open Distance and e- Learning, Dr. Fumilayo Morebise.

The approval stated that "Sequel to the validated status recommended by the panel comprising Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Subject Matter Experts as well as NUC representatives that visited the proposed Centre between 22nd to 24th February 2024, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has given approval to the Open Distance e-Learning (ODeL) Centre of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, to commence academic activities".

The approval also stated that the "Centre may wish to commence operations with B.Sc in  Public Administration only via the ICT Enabled Supported Blended Model of Open and Distance Learning ODL mode of delivery".

Furthermore, the Acting Director of Open Distance and e-Learning stated that "addition of new programs will be on a program by program basis and subject to pre-assessment and approval by the Commission".

In her response to the approval, the visibly elated Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman noted that the with the approval and consequent takeoff of the ODeL Centre, prospective candidates of the University from anywhere in the world can now access programs of the University through the Open Distance e-Learning platform thereby opening the University to globalisation. She promised that in the next years to come more programs will be added to the Open Distance e-Learning platform to allow more candidates to enrol into the University.

With the commencement of B.Sc Public Administration by the Open Distance e-Learning Centre of NSUK, the University  is set to provide access to quality and affordable education at the convenience and pace of the student.
