NUC ICT Assessment and Management Team Conducts Visit to University of Ibadan

A delegation of Monitoring Officers from the National Universities Commission (NUC), responsible for evaluating ICT infrastructure, services, and human resources within the Nigerian University System (NUS), has recently visited the University of Ibadan. Their purpose is to conduct a thorough assessment of the university’s ICT facilities.

A team of Monitoring Officers from the National Universities Commission (NUC) recently arrived at the University of Ibadan (UI) for a comprehensive assessment of its Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities. Led by Mrs. Jumai Alabi, Mr. Oriabure Iyayi, and Mr. Asabi Samuel, the three-member team embarked on a mission to evaluate UI’s technological infrastructure, service delivery, and human resources.

Upon their arrival, the NUC team was warmly received by the Director of the Institute of Technology and Management Studies (ITeMs), Mrs. Abiodun A. Alao. Subsequently, they were escorted to the office of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, where discussions commenced.

Professor Adebowale expressed his appreciation for the NUC’s regulatory role in shaping Nigerian universities’ development over the years. He emphasized that the NUC’s guidance had been instrumental in fulfilling the institutions’ responsibilities toward national progress.

UI’s Virtual Teaching Endeavors

Professor Adebowale highlighted UI’s successful integration of virtual teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. The university remains committed to enhancing its ICT compliance across all operational domains.

Assessment Scope

Mrs. Jumai Alabi, the NUC Deputy Director on Establishment Matters, clarified that the visit aimed to assess UI’s ICT infrastructure, service delivery, available human resources, and relevant skills. The assessment was based on a comprehensive form submitted to the NUC as of December 2023.

The University of Ibadan eagerly awaits the NUC’s insights and recommendations, which will undoubtedly contribute to its ongoing pursuit of excellence in technology-enabled education.
