NYSC Plateau Coordinator Encourages Corps Members to Utilize SAED Opportunities

NYSC Plateau Coordinator Encourages Corps Members to Utilize SAED Opportunities

Mr. Yavala I. Jonathan, the State Coordinator of NYSC Plateau, has urged Corps Members to fully embrace the opportunities offered by the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program during their service year.

This advice was given at the formal opening ceremony of the SAED program for the 2024 Batch "B" Stream II Orientation Course, held at the Multipurpose Hall of NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, WAYE Foundation, Doi-Du, Jos South LGA.

Mr. Yavala emphasized that SAED is a crucial component of the Orientation Course and encouraged Corps Members to pay close attention during their training. He highlighted that the program offers valuable opportunities through partnerships with various organizations, including the Bank of Industries, the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), the Bank of Agriculture, and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). These partnerships aim to provide training, enlightenment, and startup capital for new businesses.

Corps Members were advised to select from the 11 different skill sets available during in-camp training and continue their development during post-camp sessions. SAED Monitoring Officer Mrs. Josephine S. Tende also urged Corps Members to make the most of this opportunity.

Mr. Victor Audu from the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) provided insights on self-reliance and becoming employers of labor. In her opening remarks, Mrs. Sarah Nnaji, the head of SAED, noted the decline in white-collar jobs and stressed the importance of utilizing the SAED program. 

The event also featured testimonies from former Corps Members Mr. John Ochika and Mr. David Oderisi, and an introduction of the trainers in their respective areas of specialization.
