The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has pledged full support for the Federal Government's "Digital Literacy For All" initiative, aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s digital proficiency. Brigadier General YD Ahmed, the Director General of NYSC, expressed the Scheme's commitment during the flag-off ceremony held at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre in Minna, Niger State.

The Digital Literacy For All Programme, part of the Federal Government's agenda, targets training 30 million Nigerians in informal and rural sectors, with an ambitious goal of achieving 70% digital literacy by 2027. Brigadier General Ahmed described this initiative as a transformative step toward empowering Nigerians with essential digital skills that will drive economic growth, particularly in sectors such as commerce and craftsmanship.

"This initiative will revolutionize key economic activities and accelerate national development. NYSC is fully committed to ensuring the success of this project," General Ahmed said. He added that the Scheme has already been involved in digital training through its Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, which equips Corps Members with ICT skills to train other youth.

The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, highlighted the importance of the initiative in diversifying Nigeria's economy through technology-driven innovation. Abdullahi emphasized that every Nigerian must be digitally literate to benefit from this initiative, with NYSC playing a crucial role due to its nationwide reach. He noted that in every state, 80 Corps Members would be trained as NITDA Champions to further train others in their communities, aiming for each Corps Member to train at least 60 Nigerians monthly.

This collaboration demonstrates the Federal Government's commitment to technological advancement as a means to boost productivity across critical sectors like agriculture and healthcare.
