Oyo State Equips 1,000 Students with Tech Skills
The Oyo State government, in collaboration with CodeGarage Africa, 386konsult Limited, and Zeeh Africa, recently concluded a groundbreaking training programme for 1,000 senior secondary school students and teachers. The programme witnessed a diverse group of students from both public and private schools in Ibadan, undergoing hands-on training in various technology disciplines.
The Oyo State government, in collaboration with CodeGarage Africa, 386konsult Limited, and Zeeh Africa, recently concluded a groundbreaking training programme for 1,000 senior secondary school students and teachers. The initiative, known as the “1000 Lines of Code” Initiative, aimed to equip participants with both coding and non-coding tech skills, preparing them for the digital age.
The programme witnessed a diverse group of students from both public and private schools in Ibadan, undergoing hands-on training in various technology disciplines. While coding was a key focus, the programme also covered a wide range of non-coding tech skills, providing a comprehensive approach to tech education.

In the closing ceremony, Reverend Idowu Ogedengbe, the Executive Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Administration, expressed gratitude to the tech firms involved for their invaluable contribution. He also commended the schools and teachers for their enthusiastic involvement, highlighting their dedication to cultivating a tech-savvy generation.
Reverend Ogedengbe stated, “This initiative showcases our commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and equipping our youth with essential skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world. We appreciate our partners and participants for bringing this vision to life.”

Bayo Akande, the Senior Special Assistant on ICT, emphasized the strategic vision driving the initiative. He asserted, “The ‘1000 Lines of Code’ programme is just the beginning. Our goal is to expand this initiative to other zones in Oyo State, ensuring more students benefit from this transformative experience. We envision a future where our youth are not just technology consumers but also creators and innovators.”
