Students, Staff Lauds FUOYE VC, Prof. Abayomi Fasina Over online teaching Success

Students and academic staff members of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) have poured encomiums on the Vice-Chancellor (VC) , Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina and his management team for bringing up the online teaching initiative and appointing the Director of Quality Assurance to head the online teaching committee for the students during the four weeks’ break ordered by the Federal Government for all Universities on the need to peacefully and successfully carry out the recent general elections.
This was just as three intelligent students of the institution, Olugbade Damilola Esther, Ajibade Covenant Adenike and Tife Oluwani, clinched scholarship to complete their studies.

Contrary to report from a certain online blog, which alleged that students lamented the poor outing of the exercise, ocassioned by poor network, many students welcomed the idea and expressed gratitude to the VC and his management team for ensuring that teaching via the various online platforms, to cover their syllabuses, went on during the break. They were particularly glad that the initiative would lead to their graduation from their respective academic programmes in record time.
Most of them said occasional network hitches notwithstanding, having online classes at the comfort of their homes was a very progressive initiative which the University management should be applauded for. They boasted that many other students from other varsities who didn’t make use of the online teaching during the break, envied them.

“I want to really appreciate our amiable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina and his management team for encouraging the Directorate of Quality Assurance, headed by Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, for bringing up the online teaching initiative. This is a laudable development that has ensured that we were not idle and engage in frivolous activities during the four weeks’ holiday ordered by the government because of the general elections. This is a very good development, ” Dapo Ogunrole of the Department of Economics and Development Studies, said.
“The online teaching programme which the management brought to us during the four- week election holiday, is a great idea. In fact, it has made other students from other Universities who didn’t do online teaching during that holiday to envy those of us who are students of FUOYE. And l am very proud of the Management of my University ably led by our Daddy, the VC, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina. Theirs is a progressively minded and exemplary team, ” Afeniforo Abimbola Oluwaseun , 100L of the Department of Political Science, said.
Tiamiyu Tolulope , 200L, Department of Theatre and Media Arts, also has this to say: “As students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) , we are greatly proud of our Vice-Chancellor , Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, and his hard working management team for initiating the online teaching for us during the four-week break imposed by government for the just concluded general elections. This is a very great idea that has made us very proud as students. We are indeed very grateful for the initiative because it shows that the VC and his team have the best interest of we , the students, at heart. The initiative has ensured that we were not idle during the break and go into any activity that could ruin our lives, and also more importantly, we were able to learn and cover up our styllabuses while other universities who didn’t do such online training are far behind us now in this regard. For this progress, we thank the VC and his team for a job well done.”
While also appreciating the University management and the VC for providing very conducive learning environment and bringing up every initiative to give the best to students and staff, a 400L, student of Business Administration,
Olugbade Damilola Esther who benefitted from the scholarship, said: ” i am one of the awardees of Joshua Ayodele Ajayi (JAA) Foundation Scholarship , l write to express my appreciation for considering me worthy for the scholarship and awarding me the scholarship fund. I truly express my gratitude from the bottom of my heart for awarding me Joshua Ajayi Foundation scholarship, This will surely help me in my Bachelor degree studies and will also provide a huge monetary relief to my family and me.
I assure you that I will study harder to achieve my goals and make you feel proud of awarding me Joshua Ayodele Ajayi Foundation scholarship,
I once again would like to thank you for awarding me the scholarship and I have receive the fund , thank you “.
Ajibade covenant Adenike is a 200 level Law student, she said: “I’m quite privileged to be one of the awardees of the JAA foundation scholarship
I’m very grateful for the support of the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dosu Malomo and the Vice chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina for providing the platform for us to assess the scholarship. it’s an honour to be assisted by them.
I promise to make good use of the opportunity given to me, with God’s help I will focus on doing well academically and also properly manage the funds allotted to me. Thank you sirs.”
Tife Oluwani , another beneficiary of the scholarship also expressed her profound gratitude for having been given the opportunity.
Commenting on the development, the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Dosu Malomo who told the University Media team that the online teaching services for the students has had an excellent impact on them and their preparations for the forthcoming examinations, said: “The three girls are deserving of the awards having been screened through very stringent standards and procedures.
Their intelligence was visibly displayed when they all spoke in impeccable and eloquent English. They are indeed good ambassadors of our University. They have shown that our efforts are not in vain.
Our Vice-Chancellor, Prof Abayomi Sunday Fasina, celebrates brilliance hence, when he got the story of the program he poured out glowing encomiums on the three girls.
To Joshua Foundation the body awarding the special female child scholarship, we are grateful and may God continue to expand their scope of affluence and influence in exceeding prosperity.”
The academic staff who carried out the online teaching in high spirit, have equally expressed their gratitude to the VC for the prompt payment of the emoluments for procuring data for the exercise and wished the VC and his management team greater success in future engagements.
Meanwhile, the Director of FUOYE Quality Assurance, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju who supervised the online teaching , has also scored the performance of the initiative very high. While lauding the painstaking efforts of the ICT Deputy Director, Mr. Samson Durojaiye and his hardworking team in providing the technical assistance, He said in spite of the challenges encountered which mainly bother on very occasional network issues, the excercise has had great and positive impact on both the lecturers and students with students being the better for it. Prof. Adeyanju revealed that given the huge success recorded during the online teaching exercise, the VC has graciously approved that there should be blended learning, which combines physical and virtual approaches towards a more effective teaching for the students in the coming semester. His words: ” This exercise has been greatly rewarding. And our students have benefitted greatly from it.
The University management enlisted students who helped monitor the online teaching and gave useful feedback to improve the proposed blended learning. This laudable exercise also shows clearly that our amiable VC is progressive and forward thinking because we are currently in the 2022/23 session not 2021/22 except for the stream A students who are in 2nd semester 2021/22.
This means our session will normalize into 2023/24 by October, 2024 and will not be interrupted again based on the promises of the President-Elect,”
