As a testament to the commitment and excellence demonstrated by educators, the Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) in Umunze recently hosted a momentous Induction Ceremony to honor and recognize the exemplary contributions of distinguished teachers.

In a significant milestone for the Nigerian education sector, the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) recently conducted a momentous induction ceremony, welcoming 748 graduates of the Federal College of Education (Technical) into the esteemed teaching profession. The inductees, who successfully completed the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE), degree, and Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) programs at the college, were lauded for their dedication and passion for education.

Addressing the new educators at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Auditorium, TRCN's Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye, praised the graduates for their years of rigorous studies, emphasizing that the induction ceremony symbolized their hard work, determination, and exceptional qualities that position them as the future of the nation's education system.

Ajiboye stressed the profound responsibility that comes with being an educator, describing teaching not merely as a job but as a vocation, a profession, and a noble calling. He urged the inductees to instill knowledge, ignite curiosity, guide the present and next generations, and ultimately contribute to changing the world.

Encouraging innovation and creativity in teaching, Ajiboye advised the new teachers to embrace new approaches, leverage technology, and foster critical thinking and lifelong learning. He underscored the TRCN's commitment to restoring the glory of the teaching profession and raising its standards to align with other professions in Nigeria.

Highlighting the TRCN's career progression for teachers, Ajiboye outlined the path from beginners to proficient teachers, mentor teachers, and distinguished teachers. He challenged the inductees to transform their perceptions about teaching and embrace innovation.

The Provost, Prof. Thersea Okoli, echoed the significance of education as the bedrock of societal development, with teachers as architects. Dr. Cecilia Ekemezie, Director PDE/Desk Officer at TRCN, emphasized the paramount importance of the teaching profession and commended the committed staff of the College. The Dean, School of Education, Dr. O.G. Onwuzo, recognized TRCN's efforts in enhancing teacher education quality in the country.
