Students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), residing at Shama Private Hostel, have expressed concerns over worsening insecurity following the collapse of the hostel's fence and gates. The incident has left students vulnerable to theft, intrusion, and lack of privacy.

Students have reported stolen properties, including a cooking pot, and outsiders can peep into women's rooms due to the broken fence.

The collapsed fence has exposed students to potential security risks and compromised their privacy.

Students are frustrated with the hostel management's silence and inaction despite paying huge hostel fees.

The caretaker claims efforts are being made to fix the collapsed fence, possibly before the next semester.

The Deputy Dean of Student Affairs clarified that issues with private hostels are the responsibility of landlords, not the university.
