UDUS to Benefit from ₦110 Billion Medical Education Intervention

The Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), has been selected to receive part of a ₦110 billion Federal Government fund to upgrade medical education in Nigeria.

The university is one of 18 institutions to benefit from the intervention, which aims to improve infrastructure and training quality in health-related fields.

Each selected university will receive approximately ₦4 billion, with ₦750 million allocated for hostel construction. The funds will be used to rehabilitate medical faculties, build new facilities, and enhance student accommodations for medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and dentistry students.

The initiative is part of a five-year plan to invest ₦1.5 trillion in medical education, with the goal of increasing local capacity to produce healthcare professionals and reducing the number of Nigerian students traveling abroad for medical training.
